Week 2/6/12 Entry 2 (I am SO behind)

Good golly, Ms. Molly! I didn't even realize how behind I 've gotten with these journal entries, lately. Curse you, looming shadow of expulsion! That last sentence was me trying to make light of a VERY serious situation. I hate how my grades keep getting worse and worse every year (first-world problems).

I just now realized how whiny I sound. God, I must sound like a sixteen year-old Andy Rooney to anyone reading this. You should really stop reading this blog for your own safety; It might turn you into a narcissist if you continue on. So, as Gandalf once said: "Run, you fools!"

Week of 2/6/12 Entry 1

I hate this snow. Do you wanna know why? It's a tease. I like to call the snow that is falling right now "depressing snow". The definition of depressing snow is "precipitation that happens in the winter months that looks like the potential beginning of a blizzard, but, in fact, is just disguised rain". That's right, I said it! This is just a form of extremely sneaky rain! I call shenanigans! Deception! Blasphemy! WITCH!.....I think I need to lie down.

Week of 1/30/12 Entry 2

As mentioned in the last entry, I'm going to explain my reason for generalizing my audience (which I'm sure is just one person, right now). This blog is solely for a year-long homework assignment of sorts for my english class. We're doing weekly journal entries that are being checked by our teacher every once in awhile and, right now, I'm doing alright in comparison to my previous marking periods.
One quick question for anyone who isn't my teacher: Why are you wasting your time reading this blog when you have an infinite number of possible activities online you could be doing that are all incredibly more interesting than some high-school sophmore's dull musings on life, the universe, and everything else? I ask that purely out of curiosity, by the way.

Week of 1/30/12 Entry 1

I hate the english language. Do you want to know why I hate my first-language so much? An example is probably the best way to explain this.

Let's examine the word "fish". Technically speaking, you can spell it g-h-o-t-i. "How can this be?", you may ask. The answer is really ingenious: "gh" can be pronounced with an f-sound (as in the word "enouGH"), the word "women" gives "o" a short i-sound, & "ti" can be pronounced with an sh-sound according to the word "nation". This is the language you speak everyday (I'll explain my generalization of my readers in the next entry).
